Gabe Hannon - Irish born and bread - sailed around the world before he reached the age of eighteen. Since then, he has lived in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, England and of course Ireland. In southern Ireland Gabe owned a very successful bar and seafood restaurant, where he enjoyed his other love in life - French cooking.
His artwork has been shown in New York, and his poetry published, this excites him as he works his art from poetry, and his poetry from his art.
A note on the materials Gabe uses in his art work - he believes in using whatever old and interesting throw-away materials that he can get his hands on, and says that if people get a fraction of the enjoyment that he got from putting them together, then he is happy.
Artist's Statement
Memory serves the freedom of the imagination
My works just now, are of estuaries and harbours, quite nautical. They also represent tranquility and clansmanship. They are made of bits and pieces of memory - and materials - of days long gone.... |
